What is solution focused hypnotherapy?

Solution focused hypnotherapy equips you to move forward and achieve your goals. It is a positive approach that blends psychotherapy with relaxing trance and uses techniques that are informed by up-to-date research and science. What are solution focused hypnotherapy sessions like at My Mind Hypnotherapy?

The sessions are purposefully kept very positive because that’s when a solution focused approach works best. The sessions are broadly in two parts, a talking part followed by some relaxing trance. In the first part we will be thinking about what is going well, looking at what’s happening in the brain, and building a picture of what you want to achieve next. We will then take this picture into a lovely relaxing state of trance to really imbed this next step.

 

Will I have to tell you things I find difficult to talk about?

Solution focused hypnotherapy focuses on what you want to achieve. It is forward-looking and intentionally does not dwell on the past. In the initial consultation I will ask you basic questions to find a starting point, such as “How would you like hypnotherapy to help you?” 

 

What is it like to be in trance?

“It’s just soooo relaxing.”
Trance is a very ordinary thing. We all go in and out of trance throughout the day, such as when we are day dreaming. It's when our subconscious mind and our conscious mind come together in absolute focus. In solution focused hypnotherapy this relaxing but focused state helps you to get the very best out of yourself.

 

Will I be in control of what I do?

The relaxing trance part of the session requires absolute agreement, meaning you are in total control of what you do. Just as when in a daydream, you cannot be made to do something against your will.

 

What age range do you work with?

Typically I work with people from age 10 upwards. However there is some flexibility with this as the requirement is about mental and learning capacity rather than age. 

 

How do I get started?

Contact me by email, text or Facebook messenger. 

The first appointment will be a FREE initial consultation. This will give me an opportunity to find out more about you and what you are aiming to achieve, and you can find out more about the brain. You will also receive a relaxation recording to listen to before you go to sleep that can really support the work we do together. From here we will start your hypnotherapy appointments.

Sessions for stopping smoking are different. They are a one-off session of up to two hours. Contact me if you are interested in this.

 

How long are the appointments?

Appointments are 50 mins long, (except appointments for stopping smoking or vaping which are up to two hours long). It is important to be on time for your appointment to get the most out of it.

 

Do you do evening appointments?

Yes, I offer evening appointments. These can be in-person at my home-based therapy room in Sherburn in Elmet, or online

 

Does it work?

Hypnotherapy works with the mind. If you approach hypnotherapy with the mindset of wanting change, even if you are nervous about that, then you will get the most out of your sessions. Clients have seen long-lasting and life changing results.
